ÉireComposites is an innovative design, manufacturing and testing company, involved in lightweight, high performance fibre-reinforced composite materials, with an international customer base in Aerospace, Wind Energy, Marine and Transportation as well as General Automotive sectors. The company is accredited to EN/AS 9100 for aerospace composites manufacturing and design, and to ISO 9001:2000 for non-aerospace composites manufacturing.

ÉireComposites carries out manufacturing of aerospace components and assemblies in both thermoplastic and thermoset composites, using autoclave and oven processes, liquid moulding and press moulding operations as well as their proprietary MECH TOOL integrally-heated tooling system.

Support activities such as inspection, NDT, trimming and painting are all included within their 3,500 square metre facility in Galway, Ireland. Their plant equipment includes:

  • a 1.5 metre diameter x 3.0 metres long autoclave, 10 bar pressure, 400ºC (electrically-heated and pressurised by compressed air or nitrogen)

  • a 0.6 metre diameter x 1.2 metre experimental autoclave, 20 bar pressure, 450 ºC, electrically-heated, pressurised by nitrogen - mainly used for prototyping

  • a 100 tonne double-daylight press, plate sizes 1.5 metre x 0.5 metre, 450ºC

  • an Infrared rapid heating system for press-forming of thermoplastic composites

ÉireComposites has world-leading proprietary technology and know-how in manufacturing and tooling for thermoplastic composites – these materials range from glass-fibre polypropylene (Twintex®) to advanced carbon- fibre thermoplastics such as PEEK and PEKK. The company also has particular expertise in moulding of new liquid- moulded thermoplastic resins such as Nylon-12 and Nylon-6. In addition they offer a complete composites design service, using CATIA V5 and finite element analysis software such as PATRAN and NASTRAN.
