Look around and consider how much of our lives rely on perfect bores……………aircraft actuation systems, power generation equipment, automotive components, Oil & Gas exploration / production equipment, and of course commercial hydraulics, they all contain rotating parts such as shafts, bearings, gears and bushes, and you will find they all have one thing in common – they all require a perfect bore.
Formed in 1988, Hampshire based Perfect Bore Manufacturing Limited quickly established a customer base built on it’s Honing expertise. Rapid growth saw the company expand, adding Gundrilling to it’s profile. This along with the introduction of ISO 9001:2000 in 1994 enabled the company to offer it’s customers total bore finishing expertise within a Quality controlled environment. Perfect Bore was, for a short period of time, owned and administered by the Dover Corporation in America. The company was relocated and eventually sold back to one of it’s original owners in 2003. Larger premises and a team that prides itself on sustaining quality with dedicated services based upon their customers needs is key to continued success. AEROSPACE.
In the field of major aerospace Perfect Bore are proud to support the Eurofighter and Apache projects, and have Airbus approval as a preferred supplier. Approvals are also held for Bae, Rolls Royce, GKN Aerospace,Messier & Goodrich.
PETROCHEMICAL.
Deep Hole Drilling of high temperature alloys such as Inconel, Monel, Hastalloy, Titanium and Super Duplex Stainless Steel are a Perfect Bore speciality. Machining of these expensive, short lead time, difficult to replace alloys requires a complete understanding of cutting techniques and wear resistant tool coatings.
MEDICAL.
The needs of today’s advanced surgical techniques are met by Perfect Bore’s ability to deep hole drill exotic materials with bores of 2.00mm or less. Perfect Bore can supply cannulated billets in titanium and 17/4ph for such applications, often holding “on the shelf” stock to lessen lead times.
COMMERCIAL.
Perfect Bore offers a unique service to manufactures, the ability to Gundrill and Hone fine limit holes and ports with the extra specialist service of Superfinishing and Match Honing. A Lapping service is also available with full metrology support. Calibrated air gauges, a Talyrond and 20,000 times magnification surface finish measuring equipment.
MOTORSPORT.
A fast response to motorsport teams and companies is guaranteed at Perfect Bore. The company have supported the top teams in both F1 and Indy racing with Gundrilling and Honing for several years.
CERAMICS.
Investment and experience really do count in tomorrow’s world of lightweight, wear resistant materials and at Perfect Bore we have both. Huge diamond cubic nitride (CBN) tooling stocks are a key factor in the quantity of “new era” materials Honed, Polished and Lapped. Alumina, Silicon Carbide, Tungsten Carbides, Agate, Zirconia, Nickel Alloys and specialist coatings are easily dealt with on short lead times at Perfect Bore Manufacturing Ltd.
Today Perfect bore is accredited to AS9100 and is a dedicated signatory to SC21 these commitments are aimed at Aerospace markets but the benefits are also enjoyed by all other customers across diverse markets such as Motorsport, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Defence and Commercial. Right first time, on time deliveries and cost effective solutions are common to all these market places these days. Perfect Bore offers:
- bore production and finishing from 1.50 mm diameter to 150 mm diameter upto 3000 mm oal. Larger bores can also be accommodated on dedicated Single tube BTA Boring machines.
- gundrilling from 1.50 mm up to 40 mm diameter through 450 mm to 2000 mm long billets on centreline drilling machines and 2.50 mm up to 40 mm diameter on indexable table machines.
- temperature controlled honing facilities covering both horizontal and vertical machines with capacity from 1.50 mm up to 200 mm; while its superfinishing capacity covers 6 mm diameter to 60 mm diameter. Parts with bore tolerances to 0.001 mm accuracy are achievable and finishes of 0.05 Ra.
