GYS, the French market leader in welding equipment, has set up a UK subsidiary that is making its debut at this year’s Subcon exhibition. It offers a comprehensive range of products and accessories for MMA, TIG, MIG and plasma welding as well as car body repair systems and battery chargers.
Central to the company’s success are its commitment to innovation, GYS employs a dedicated team of 29 research and development engineers. Its highly integrated, high-technology production facility maximizes in-house manufacturing which provides GYS with the dual benefit of controlling quality and reducing costs – giving customers the best possible products at competitive prices.
Set up in 1964 and still a family business, the company’s manufacturing operation is based at Laval, 170 miles south west of Paris, where GYS employs around 400 people. Approvals include ISO 9001, Thatcham & TÜV certification. It currently sells its products in 90 countries worldwide – including subsidiaries in China and Germany – and has tripled turnover in the past five years to around 50million Euros in 2008.
From this strong international base GYS is further reinforcing its European operations with the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary company in the United Kingdom. A warehouse and headquarters facility in Warwick will now provide a comprehensive range of products and a high level of after-sales service to a rapidly expanding UK customer base.
