Sintered metal components

26/05/2009 00:00:00

Exhibiting for the first time at Subcon, the Danish company Dansk Sintermetal A/S (stand S130)

manufactures sintered components from metal powders in iron, steel, stainless steel, bronze, copper and certain copper-based alloys.

The company was founded in 1959 and is well known to many European companies. With exports at 85 percent, it has many years of experience especially on the German and the Scandinavian markets.

Sintered components are made according to customer specifications, and a wide variety of shapes and sizes will be on display at the exhibition. The company says that its stand is the place to visit if you are looking for complex geometries and special properties. The company also says that, while sintered components are normally considered to be best suited to large scale production, short runs – from a few thousand a year upwards – are also one of  Dank Sintermetal A/S’ specialities.

The items exhibited will include several components for mechanical door locks – where there are often high demands on mechanical properties. Also on show will be sintered components for couplings and brakes, pneumatic and electrical hand tools, welding equipment, and so on.

Another speciality that Dansk Sintermetal A/S looks forward to showing is components manufactured in Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC). These are produced from an iron powder where every single powder particle is coated with a thin, isolating layer. Using this material you can obtain soft magnetic components with a low eddy current loss and a 3-dimensional flux. An example could be powder pressed stator cores for electro motors, which traditionally are manufactured in laminated iron. Components powder pressed in SMC give new design possibilities and a lower price.

Subcon 2009 takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 9 to 11 June.and will give buyers the chance to source all types of subcontract manufacturing services from the UK’s biggest showcase of national and international suppliers.
