The Birmingham Post Enterprise Award Winner and Subcon exhibitor Clamason Industries of Kingswinford, West Midlands, continues to go from strength to strength.
Having won the initial monthly award in the spring of 2009 for its work in the medical sector, specifically the global award winning, Midland designed SoloStar insulin delivery system from the world’s largest insulin manufacturer Sanofi-Aventis, Clamason bucked the recession throughout the summer, and reported record turnover for September and October. Then in November sales were over £1m – the company’s first ever million pound monty became the company’s first million pound month with sales exceeding that value for the first time.
Philip Clarke Managing Director said, “This record achievement is testimony to the skill and hard work of our dedicated team in the Black Country. In order to satisfy demand not only in the medical sector, but across the entire customer base, we needed our people to work longer hours, weekends, and be extremely flexible in their working practices. Needless to say everyone has chipped in, and can look forward to a very promising 2010”.
In addition to the insulin pen which is currently sold in 120 countries, and is soon to be assembled in China for the growing market there, Clamason has also secured new business in the sector for similar drug delivery devices, an expertise in which the UK leads the world.
Commenting further Mr. Clarke added that Clamason had seen a turn around across the entire range of industries it supplies, from domestic hardware to automotive, all of Clamasons’ customers are busy. UK manufacturing is very much alive and kicking!
“The first quarter of 2010 is maintaining the same strong growth, seeing Clamason invest in a brand new 2200 sq metre facility in Nitra, Slovakia, a plant roughly three times the size of the current factory. This is in addition to another new 200T press in the UK, and state-of-the-art Agie wire erosion machine to enhance our toolroom facilities.”
