Showcase your capabilities at Subcon 2008
Subcon 2008 provides UK subcontractors with an ideal opportunity to showcase their capabilities in front of senior buyers who are actively looking for new suppliers. The exhibition is the UK's only national and international event dedicated to subcontracting and takes place at the NEC Birmingham from 22-24 April. Buyers come to source all types of manufactured components, from turned and machined parts, pressings, fabrications, castings and forgings, to sub-assemblies and fully-finished products.
This year's event is co-located with several complementary manufacturing events, including MACH and Drives & Controls. This means that as well as being a prime attraction for buyers who know what they want to source, it will also attract visitors who are taking a broader look at their sourcing requirements - including deciding whether or not to make components themselves - which provides an even bigger opportunity for potential suppliers to make their case.
Subcon 2008 Event Director Jon Hughes said, "As an annual event, Subcon is a must-see show in its own right, but with the added benefits to visitors of taking a broader look at their whole make/buy strategy this will be the highlight of the 2008 calendar for anyone in manufacturing. Any company that offers subcontract services and is serious about reaching the key buyers in Britain's leading companies should certainly be exhibiting at Subcon 2008."
He says that for busy subcontractors focused on getting the job out of the door, finding new customers is often pushed to the bottom of the job list. But in today's volatile manufacturing climate, and with international competition chasing a piece of everyone's business it is vital to make sure that the work keeps on coming in - and trade shows are a great place to find that new work.
"Exhibitions are unique in that the whole industry is there in one place and the buyers come to see you. Much of the time it is the only way you will get the chance to talk to some of these people. How many companies do you know that will only see reps from companies that are already suppliers? The visitors to Subcon have made an effort to get to the show and want to get the most out of it. They come to Subcon to find suppliers, they often have specific projects in mind and are interested in placing work right away," says Jon.
