Teknek Howwood Exhibits Wide Range of Sub-contracting Services at Subcon 2008
Teknek Howwood, the sub-contracting division of the TH Group, will be demonstrating its wide range of engineering services at this year's Subcon 2008 exhibition in Birmingham.
The Renfrewshire-based company is regarded as one of the UK's foremost engineering firms and has supplied leading edge manufacturing services to a diverse range of European and Asian companies including some of the country's largest OEMs for over 35 years spanning the defence, aerospace, medical, diagnostics and telecommunications sectors.
Teknek Howwood can provide a total manufacturing support service from initial design and prototyping through volume fabrication to finish and assembly. This has been further enhanced with the introduction of a Lean Excellence programme throughout the business which has implemented the latest Lean manufacturing techniques to maximise efficiency and minimise waste. The company also has ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
Tom Kennett, sales executive, Teknek Howwood said: "We are finding that our customers are looking for a single point of contact for their manufacturing needs. Our aim is to remove cost from our customer's supply chain and many of our larger clients are asking us to assume turnkey responsibility for some of their largest and most complex projects."
He added: "The ratio between small and large customers is changing and we are increasingly being approached by companies wishing to spend in excess of £100,000 a year with us. For this type of customer we are setting up dedicated cells and production lines."
Teknek also boasts a graphics department which can supply membrane keypads and printed products for the instrumentation and MMI (Man Machine Interface) sectors.
To further strengthen its service offering Teknek has recently announced a joint venture with Blantyre-based Fortec Precision to form a new machining business called Metallo Limited. THG, Teknek's holding company will own 50% of the venture which will be based at Fortec's Blantyre headquarters. The joint company will offer a comprehensive range of machining services including CNC and conventional turning, CNC and conventional milling plus horizontal and vertical boring.
Stephen Mitchell, THG managing director said: "Teknek Howwood has long been regarded as one of Scotland's leading sub-contract manufacturing organisations. Having worked with Fortec we realised that together we could be a formidable force in the engineering field. We are therefore delighted that Fortec and Teknek Howwood have agreed to form Metallo."
