Mike Wilson has 40 years of experience in the application of automation to manufacturing across a broad range of industry sectors and is widely recognised as one of the leading authorities on the application of industrial robot systems in the UK. Mike is Chief Automation Officer at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, leading the drive to increase the adoption of automation in UK manufacturing. He is also past Chairman of the British Automation and Robot Association, a Director of the Manufacturing Technologies Association and has previously been Chairman of the International Federation of Robotics. His book “Implementation of Robot Systems” was published in 2014.

Rhys Herbert is a Senior Economist at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. He is responsible for analysing and forecasting trends in the UK and other major economies, with a special interest in the manufacturing sector. Rhys joined Lloyds Bank in January 2011. Prior to this, he worked at the economic consultancy Oxford Economics where he headed up its industry forecasting service. He has also worked at the Office for National Statistics, Prudential Assurance Corporation, Credit Lyonnais Bank and the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. Rhys has an MSc in Economics from the University of London.
Hugo Spowers is the founder and MD of Riversimple Movement, which he set up in 2001 after a career as a motorsport engineer, on the basis that a step change in automotive technology is both essential and possible.
Riversimple is developing lightweight hydrogen fuel cell cars and the strategies necessary for bringing them to market.
Riversimple's Vehicle as a Service model makes efficiency and sustainability profitable and eliminates the economic barriers to bringing low carbon cars to market. The company is currently raising funds to establish its first plant for volume production in mid-Wales.

I studied Mechanical Engineering at Manchester and an MSc at Cranfield. After Cranfield I joined GEC Marconi, as a stress analyst.
I then joined a consultancy in Oxford, working on FE analysis of many varied projects, including a superconducting magnet for use in space.
This led to 15 years on MRI magnets at GE and Agilent, followed by joining Tokamak Energy, to work on fusion. We designed and built ST40, our current machine, which has recently achieved 100m degree plasma temperature. We are now working on the next generation of HTS Tokamaks.

With over 25 years’ experience in the energy industry Stuart leads Inenco’s procurement team across trading, risk management, supplier management and client service delivery.
He’s focused on developing new, innovative products and buying strategies; that deliver cutting edge service and value to customers. Stuart has been at the forefront of maximising the value derived from Power Purchase Agreements and European procurement. He has an in-depth understanding of the water market and metering.
Stuart’s a qualified member of the Society of Technical Analysis and a member of the Charted Institute of Securities and Investments; with specialist qualifications in Derivatives and Regulation.

Simon has worked in the environment sector since 2001, for the last nine years of which he has worked as an Energy and Carbon Consultant, a role he has fulfilled at Inenco for close to three years.
Simon has worked to support multiple clients and complex organisations to calculate GHG Gases and carbon emissions. He has supported the development and implementation of data collection plans and management strategies, aimed at improving the quality of emissions calculations, to support accurate, external Stakeholder Reporting.
His practical knowledge and experience have placed him a position to support clients to develop emissions reduction and sustainability strategies and to assist those clients to implement those strategies and carbon management plans.
Simon is a Chartered Energy Manager and professional member of the Energy Institute and most recently an energy reduction project Simon was Project Lead on received ‘Highly Commended’ at the Energy Awards 2021.
David Short works within BAE Systems Group Head Office, managing multi–domain technology investment and strategic collaboration across the business sectors. Dave is distinguished for his leadership and technical capability in the development of, and problem solving within, complex mission systems across the engineering lifecycle. He has worked for many years in an international environment; previous roles have included Engineering Authority for Tornado and Typhoon as well as the BAE Systems Chief Engineer for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Ric has more than 30 years R&D, commercial and business development experience in advanced photonics based technologies.
During his early career he was a postdoc at Swansea University, has worked as a beamline scientist in the Central Laser Facility at RAL and at Exitech Ltd, an innovative manufacturer of highly specialised laser micromachining systems. Following this he played a pivotal role in setting up and operating a number of the UK Knowledge Transfer Networks in the photonics and plastic electronics sectors.

Technical Product and Insight Manager
David is the Technical Product and Insight Manager for Energy Solutions at Inenco. He started his career in the electricity generation industry in the 1980’s when most generation came from fossil fuels. Since then, the carbon emissions from UK grid electricity have reduced dramatically but he believes that the next 10 years will prove the greatest challenge in decarbonising the grid whilst maintaining security of supplies.
In 2007, David joined Inenco to advise on both combined heat and power and renewable generation projects and provides insight into the ways that the electricity industry must adapt to a net zero future and the consequences that this will have on energy users.
David now works with large energy users to develop carbon reduction strategies and to prepare for the impacts that climate change will have on their businesses.
